Hardware Tab

Each setting in the Hardware tab is de-
scribed below.

Sample Rate Menu
Sets the sample rate of the Realtime Rack
system. To change the sample rate, click
the SAMPLE RATE drop menu and choose
a new value from the menu.
Realtime Rack supports the following
sample rates (in kHz): 44.1, 48, 88.2, and
96. Set the sample rate to 48 kHz when
used with Soundcraft Vi Consoles.

Clock Source Menu
Sets the digital clock source for the Realtime Rack system. To change the clock source,
click the CLOCK SOURCE drop menu and choose a new value from the menu. The Clock
Source cannot be modified in SAFE mode.
The clock source can also be selected in the Info Bar. The Info Bar also includes status
indications in the

Clock Display

.

Realtime Rack can synchronize to external MADI clock, external word clock, or Internal
clock. In typical use, Realtime Rack should be set to MADI clock (the default value) for
synchronization with the digital audio from/to the Soundcraft Vi console.

MADI

When MADI is the clock source and multiple Realtime Rack units are properly connect-
ed, no additional clock distribution is needed (e.g., word clock).

Word Clock

When the clock source is word clock, the first Realtime Rack unit (MADI channels 1 –
16) must receive the word clock. Then route the word clock to the second Realtime Rack
unit, and so on, to up to four Realtime Rack units.

MADI Channels Menu
Specifies the range of contiguous MADI channels to be processed by Realtime Rack. To
change the MADI Channels, click the MADI CHANNELS drop menu and choose a new
value from the menu.
The MADI channels to be processed depend on the number of installed Realtime Rack
units. For example, if one Realtime Rack is installed for 16 channels of processing, the
available menu selections are 1–16, 17–32, 33–48, or 49–64.
If two units are installed for 32 channels of processing, the available menu selections
are 1–32, 17–48, or 33–64, and so on, for up to four units with 64 channels of process-
ing, in which case only 1–64 is available in the menu.
