Offline Authorization

To authorize a system that is not connected to the Internet, you'll need manually transfer
the registration URL generated by the UAD Meter & Control Panel software into the web
browser of an Internet-enabled computer.
After following the web portion of the registration/authorization process and the autho-
rization file is obtained on the Internet computer, you'll need to manually move the file
back to the offline computer to complete the process. These steps are detailed below.

Important:

If the Realtime Rack computer is not connected to the internet, you

must manually transfer the

exact registration URL into the browser of a web-en-

abled computer.

To authorize a system that is not connected to the Internet:

1. Install the Realtime Rack software and hardware using the procedures detailed

earlier in this chapter (the hardware and software systems must be communicat-
ing properly).

2. Follow step numbers 1, 2, and 3 on

page 32

. The default web browser opens

with the registration URL in the address bar, along with an error that the computer
is not connected to the Internet.

3. Use one of the following methods to move the registration URL to the web-en-

abled computer (the URL must be exactly the same):
a) Drag the URL icon (at far left of browser address bar) to the Desktop to create a
weblink shortcut (see illustration at end of this section), then transfer the weblink
shortcut to the internet computer via a storage device or network.
b) Alternately, carefully write down the complete URL exactly as it appears in the
address bar.

4. Go to the URL using a web browser on an internet-connected computer.

Double-click the transferred weblink shortcut, or enter the URL as it was written
down.

5. Our web pages will guide you through the registration process. Follow the

instructions on screen.

6. Click the blue “Download Authorizations»” button at the bottom of final

registration page to download the authorization file (if it does not download auto-
matically). The auth.uad2 file is downloaded to the default location specified by
the web browser.

7. Transfer the authorization file to the Realtime Rack computer via a storage

device or network.

8. Double-click the downloaded Authorization file to load it and authorize Realtime

Rack. When the "Authorizations successfully updated" dialog appears, click OK.

9. Offline registration and authorization is complete. Proceed to

Operating System

Software Configuration on page 35

.
