Chapter 3: System Setup

System Setup Overview

in this chapter:

• System connections (device wiring)
• Realtime Rack software installation
• Hardware device registration and UAD plug-in authorization
• Computer operating system software configuration
• Realtime Rack software configuration

System Requirements

All system requirements must be met for the Realtime Rack system to operate properly.
Before proceeding, confirm the

System Requirements on page 14

are met.

About Registration and Authorization

The Realtime Rack hardware unit must be registered and authorized at my.uaudio.com
to unlock UAD Powered Plug-Ins that were bundled with the product. Registration only
needs to be completed once, however authorization must be completed each time the
Realtime Rack software is updated.

Note: Registration is not a separate procedure; it's part of the initial authorization
process and only occurs once.

The Realtime Rack hardware stores its authorization and UAD licenses in the device
itself, so the unit can be connected to a different computer without repeating the autho-
rization process. UAD plug-ins that were not bundled with the product can be evaluated
without functional restriction during a

demonstration mode

that expires after 14 days.
