Q.V.P. Veneer Softener - Manual

The Q.V.P. Veneer Softener is a solution that can be used to treat crotch or burl veneers to prevent
splitting and to make veneers more pliable for curved work. This method can be used instead of the
animal glue sizing procedure used in years past.

! Mix the Veneer Softener with an equal amount of water before use. Full strength is not
recommended as the surface will remain tacky.
! Apply the solution to the veneers by dipping, spraying or brushing. Make sure the veneer is
completely covered with the solution.
! Allow the veneer to stand until surface is dry to the touch. This may require from 30 minutes to two
hours. Veneer can be used at this point and should be flexible and easily glued with no splitting.
! The plasticizing effect only lasts for a couple of days so it is not possible to prepare stock for use
several days in advance. NOTE: heat can be applied to the veneers for better plasiticizing. This
can be accomplished by placing one or two veneer sheets between 3/8“ hardboard which has
been heated. For smaller jobs place veneers between kraft paper (not newspaper, it will stain the
veneer) and apply a medium hot iron. The softening process will work with or without theheat
application.
Caution: This is a combustible liquid. Keep away from flame and all sources of ignition. Provide
adequate ventilation at all times to prevent a build-up of vapors. Store in tightly sealed container in a cool
and dry place.place

otherwise, shall be greater in amount than the purchase price of the quantity of product in respect of which
damages are claimed. In no event shall Seller be liable for incidental or consequential damages, whether Buyer's
claim is based on contract, breach of warranty, negligence or otherwise.
