FTP Interface (Single Card)

The IM can use FTP to update the firmware on a single card.

Upgrade Firmware Using FTP

To upgrade the firmware using FTP, do the following:
1. Connect the IM to the Ethernet network used by your computer.
2. Start your FTP program using the IM’s IP address:

ftp <IP address>

Note

If you do not know the IP address of the IM (or need to change

the IP address), connect to the IM using the RS-232 (serial)

connection. Current information can be seen and changed from

the Network Configuration menu.

3. Use

[download] as the user name and the same password that you used

for Telnet and Web access.

Note

To change the password, see

Changing the Administration

Password Using Telnet

on page 40

4. Specify binary mode:

Binary

5. Specify the firmware’s path and filename with the

[put]

command:

put <filename> /firmware/chunker/<slot>

<slot> is a number from 1 through 12 that represents the slot number of the

card receiving the new firmware. The slot number represents the card’s

position in the interface manger.

— Slot number 1 should contain the RMC (disregard the card type number

2 on the card, the correct slot number is 1).

— Slot number 2 should contain the Controller card (disregard the card

type number 3 on the card, the correct slot number is 2).

— Slots numbered 3 through 12 should contain the interface cards.

The file will transfer and the card in the assigned slot will reboot. The card will

then be using the new firmware.
