Decreasing pool capacity

Deleting tiers in pools decreases the pool capacity. You can decrease the pool capacity for up to
eight tasks at the same time.

Prerequisites for deleting tiers in pools

The following are the prerequisites for deleting tiers in pools:

The used capacity of the pool-VOL is below the pool threshold.

If you are deleting pool-VOLs with system area, there is more than 4.2 GB of available capacity.

You are currently not:

Creating a pool.

Deleting a pool.

Increasing a pool.

Deleting a pool-VOL to decrease the pool capacity.

Recovering a pool.

Stopping the pool-VOL for a pool.

Editing a data pool warning threshold.

Prerequisites for decreasing pool capacity

The following are the prerequisites for decreasing pool capacity and formatting the available pool
capacity:

You are not decreasing the pool capacity.

NOTE:

Do not simultaneously run RAID Manager commands to decrease the pool capacity.

You are not maintaining the cache memory.

The cache memory is up and running.

The I/O load to the V-VOL related to the pool is low.

You are not allocating new pages.

You are not running correction copy.

If processing ends abnormally, check the Tasks window.
