2 Planning and design requirements
This discusses the planning and design requirements for using FS. Read this topic before using FS.
This chapter includes the following information:
System requirements
The following is a list of system requirements that are required to perform FS tasks:
•
A XP7 storage system with P-VOL and S-VOLs.
•
FS and THP, which run on RWC computers.
THP accesses data in pool-VOLs by way of V-VOLs. It can handle data in open-system servers
such as UNIX and PC servers.
Fast Snap task requirements
The following is a list of requirements to use FS:
•
The hardware and microcode is configured and set up.
•
You have used RWC to install the license key for THP.

Workflow for installing Fast Snap
Use the following workflow to install FS:
1. Install THP.
NOTE: THP is prerequisite software for FS.
2. Install FS.
Downloading Fast Snap for Remote Web Console
To download FS for RWC, log on to the SVP from your RWC computer.
Workflow for removing Fast Snap
Use the following workflow to remove FS from RWC:
1.
Release the FS pairs (see “Releasing Fast Snap pairs” (page 87) ).
2. Delete all pools (see “Deleting pools” (page 130) ).
3. Delete the V-VOLs (see “Removing LDEVs from registering tasks” (page 55) ).
4. Remove FS (contact HP Technical Support).
Fast Snap licensed capacity requirements
FS requires licensed capacity for the FS P-VOLs and pools. FS uses a portion of THP’s licensed
capacity for its pool capacity. Make sure you have enough THP licensed capacity to run both THP
and FS.
