In the Delete LDEVs window, complete the following and then click Apply:

For Task Name, type a name for the task.

Character and symbol limit: 32

Allowable characters and symbols: All alphanumeric except \ / : , ; * ? " < > |

Default: date-task name

For Go to tasks window for status, select to open the task window.

Default: Cleared

The V-VOL is deleted.

You can maintain pairs when you switch off the storage system power and when you replace the
microcode.

Workflow for switching off the power supply

Use the following workflow to switch off the power supply:

1.

Stop the host I/O.

2.

Switch off the power supply (see

“Power supply and existing shared memory” (page 136)

and

“Power supply and losing data in shared memory” (page 137)

).

3.

Restore the power.

4.

Use the pools and FS pairs's depending on the following:

The power supply and having data in SM (see

(page 136)

).

The power supply and losing data in SM (see

memory” (page 137)

).

Power supply and existing shared memory

After you switch off the power supply, you can use the pools and pairs if data in the SM exists
and the data is not blocked. The storage system checks the pool’s and the pool-VOL’s status. If the
pool-VOLs are blocked at the time you switch off the power supply, the pool is blocked and the
pairs are suspended (“PSUE” status).
