Issues and abnormal termination when splitting pairs

You can encounter issues and receive abnormal termination codes when you run the raidcom
modify snapshot -snapshot_data create

RAID Manager raidcom command to split

pairs to store snapshot data for a group.
Abnormal termination can include one of the following:

The RAID Manager command is rejected.

A timeout occurs and the RAID Manager command ends abnormally (error code EX_EWSTOT).
The following are the prerequisites for running this command:

You are using the FS P-VOL as an Cnt Ac-J S-VOL, and you are reaching the Cnt Ac-J
journal volume limit. You have met the prerequisites for sharing volumes with Cnt Ac-J
(see the HP XP7 Continuous Access Journal User Guide).

The FS license is invalid.

The FS pair volumes are blocked and suspended (“PSUE” status).

The FS, BC, Cnt Ac-S, or Cnt Ac-J pair is in a status that does not allow you to run the
RAID Manager raidcom command. Make sure you have met the prerequisites for running
that command (see

“Pair tasks using the RAID Manager or Remote Web Console”

(page 148)

).

The consistency group does not include only FS pairs that have paired volumes (“PAIR”
status). Make sure you have met the prerequisites for splitting pairs and storing snapshot
data for groups (see

“Splitting Fast Snap pairs to store snapshot data using the RAID

Manager” (page 75)

).

To avoid this issue, define only FS pairs in a consistency group that have paired volumes
(“PAIR” status).

The pair is suspended (“PSUE” status) (error code EX_EWSUSE).

Workflow for troubleshooting storing snapshot data for groups

To avoid these issues, define only FS pairs in a consistency group that have paired volumes (“PAIR”
status).
If a timeout occurs, use the following workflow to resolve the error code and to split the FS pairs
that are defined in a consistency group from the group:

1.

Resolve the error condition.

2.

Using the RAID Manager, split the pair and store snapshot data for a group. To do this, run
the following RAID Manager raidcom command on the pair:

raidcom modify snapshot -snapshot_data create
