Figure 5 Creation/Operation of XP Continuous Access Synchronous and TrueCopy for Mainframe
Synchronous Pairs by Specifying Consistency Group

If the Open or Mainframe split command (Pairsplit-r or YKSUSPND) is issued to an XP
Continuous Access or TrueCopy Open/MF consistency group but I/O processing on some volumes
in the consistency group has not finished yet, the split operation to these volume pairs in the
combined consistency group is executed, maintaining the data consistency of the combined
consistency group after the I/O processing and the transfer of the data to the S-VOLs has finished.

“Process of the split command when volumes in a consistency group are busy with I/O processing
(XP Continuous Access volume)” (page 27)

shows how the split operation for Volume B finishes

after the I/O processing and the transfer of the data to the S-VOL ends. The I/O processing on
Volume B in the consistency group has not completed when the split command is issued.
