for shared volumes.

“TrueCopy for Mainframe and ShadowImage for Mainframe: Shared

M-VOL/S-VOL” (page 55)

shows an example of a volume which is functioning as both a TrueCopy

for Mainframe M-VOL and a ShadowImage for Mainframe S-VOL. This configuration allows you
to:

Use TrueCopy for Mainframe to provide remote backup copies of ShadowImage for Mainframe
S-VOLs, and/or

Use ShadowImage for Mainframe to provide on-site backup copies of TrueCopy for Mainframe
M-VOLs.

“TrueCopy for Mainframe and ShadowImage for Mainframe: Shared R-VOL/S-VOL” (page 55)

shows an example of a volume which is functioning as both a TrueCopy for Mainframe R-VOL and
a ShadowImage for Mainframe S-VOL. This configuration allows you to use ShadowImage for
Mainframe to provide additional remote copies of TrueCopy for Mainframe M-VOLs.

When you split ShadowImage for Mainframe pairs, if a volume is shared with TrueCopy for
Mainframe Asynchronous and ShadowImage for Mainframe, consider the following points:

Split the ShadowImage for Mainframe pair after you have changed the status of TrueCopy
for Mainframe Asynchronous pair to Suspend.

If you split ShadowImage for Mainframe pairs is for each consistency group, split the pairs
after you have changed the status of all TrueCopy for Mainframe Asynchronous pairs in the
specified consistency group to Suspend, and also made the consistency time (C/T) of the
consistency group equal to the C/T of each TrueCopy for Mainframe Asynchronous pair.

If you want to allow the ShadowImage for Mainframe split operation under a condition that
does not meet the citeria listed above, set the XP disk array mode 697 to ON. Mode 697
checks the criteria listed and the default setting is OFF.

When you split ShadowImage for Mainframe pairs for each consistency group, if the XP disk
array mode 697 is ON and the consistency group does not meet the conditions listed above,
the status of the related ShadowImage for Mainframe pairs may be Suspend. The process to
resynchronize the suspended pairs takes the same amount of time as performing the initial
copy process.

For details about the XP disk array mode 697, see

Mainframe” (page 12)
