Using your VAIO computer

Setting the password

Use one of the BIOS functions to set the password.

Once you have set the password, you will have to enter the password after the VAIO logo appears. In this way, you can protect your
computer from unauthorized access.

Adding the password

To add the password, proceed as follows:

Turn on your computer.

Press F2 when the VAIO logo appears.
The BIOS setup screen appears.

If not, press F2 several times.

to select Security to display another screen, select Set Machine Password, and then press Enter.

On the password entry screen, enter the password twice and press Enter.
The password should be up to 7 alphanumeric characters long.

You cannot start your computer without entering the password. Make sure not to
forget the password.

If you forget the password and need assistance to cancel it, a cancellation fee will be
charged.

Although you can use

Software Keyboard or NextText, depending on your country or region, for character input, you may want

to connect the supplied folding keyboard before setting the password.
