Battery power settings for backups

With the corresponding ADM file installed for the Rescue and Recovery program, if you have the Battery
Percent Requirement set in Group Policy at 1% in the following ADM path: ThinkVantage\Rescue and
Recovery\Settings\Backup, and the system that you are attempting to back up has 1% remaining battery
power, set the No Battery policy setting at the following location to Hide:

ThinkVantage\Rescue and Recovery\Settings\User Messages

For more information on configuring Active Directory for the Rescue and Recovery
program using Group Policy, see the accompanying XML/ADM Supplement for the
deployment guide located on the ThinkVantage Technologies Administrator Tools page:

Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ)

If you are using MSMQ, you might have problems starting the service after performing a restore operation
from an incremental backup. That is how the Rescue and Recovery program knows what files have changed,
so it can create backups. Thus, if all those files are not backed up on an incremental backup, then the files
could get out of synchronization and cause the service to fail. The following are some registry settings that
run a command before the Rescue and Recovery program takes a backup that sets the Archive bit on all files
in the MSMQ directory. This means the entire directory will be backed up on every incremental backup.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Lenovo\Rescue and Recovery\Settings\Backup
\PreBackup]
"Pre"="cmd"
"PreParameters"="/c attrib +A \"%windir%\\system32\\msmq\\*.*\" /S /D"
"PreShow"=dword:00000000

Configurations in the Rescue and Recovery Windows environment

The following sections provide information on using the Rescue and Recovery program in the Windows

Setting the base backup location

To set a base backup location as soon as an installation is complete, configure the following registry entry:

HKLM\Software\Lenovo\Rescue and Recovery\runbasebackuplocation
DWord = location value

Configuring registry settings to include and exclude backup files

The Rescue and Recovery program can include and exclude an individual file, a folder, or an entire partition.
With the Rescue and Recovery 4.23 program, these capabilities are controlled by the following registry
entries that are the REG_MULTI_SZ type:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\Rescue and Recovery\Settings\BackupList

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\Rescue and Recovery\Settings\ExcludeList
