The procedures listed in Section 9H through 9K complete from the bare boom weldment to
final assembly of the boom. Assembly procedures start with boom-section 4, followed (in
order) by sections 3, 2 and 1. Each Section starts with a comprehensive diagram of the
complete boom section to be assembled.
Important!
Before reassembling the boom, please read and comply with the following
Service Notes:
Use LOCTITE

Shim bearing pads within

" of tight fit. It may be necessary to final-adjust
the bearing pads after the boom is installed on the machine and hydraulic
power is available.
A spacer must be inserted between bearing pads and shims. No pad should sit
directly on the slotted area of a shim.
Bearing pads, bearing pad slide areas, hydraulics carrier and hydraulic
sub-assembly sliding areas must be lubricated (Mystik Tetrimoly grease
or equivalent).
The length of pad bolts depends on the number of shims used. No bolt should
extend into the pad, post the chamfer on the bearing pad.
Coat all sides of chains with good chain lubricant (e.g. Gradall P/N 1440-4751).
Coat interior of all bushings and sheaves with Mystik Tetrimoly grease
(Gradall P/N 1440-4595) prior to installation of pins.

Note!
Assembly of the boom sections is
quite complex. Close attention to
the instructions is extremely
important. Normal mechanics tools
are required, as well as a hoist of
sufficient capacity to handle the
weight of the final assembly
(approximately 8220 lb.).
