Checking the tape condition before
recording (ORC)

Use this feature to check the tape condition before recording, so that you can get the
best possible picture.

(1)

While the camcorder is in Standby mode, press MENU to display the menu.

(2)

Tum the control dial to highlight ORC TO SET and press the control dial to select it.

"START/STOP KEY" starts flashing.

(3)

Press START/STOP.

The ORC indicator starts flashing. The camcorder takes about 5 seconds to check the
condition of the tape head and the cassette. The ORC indicator disappears.

If the cassette has been ejected

Every time you eject the cassette, ORC is canceled. Set ORC again.

To check if you have performed ORC

Perform step 1 and step 2 above. If "ORC ON" is displayed, the tape condition has been
checked.

When the tab on the cassette exposes a red mark

You cannot set ORC.

If you set ORC on the tape already recorded

A 0.1 second unrecorded part is automatically created on the tape. However, if you

continue recording over the part, the unrecorded part on the tape is canceled.
