Usable cassettes and playback modes

Selecting cassette types (CCD-TR910 only)

This Hi8 system is an extension of the standard 8 mm system, and was developed for
higher-quality pictures.
You can use Hi8 \’ideo and standard 8 mm cassettes. When you want to record in the

Hi8 system, use only Hi8 video cassettes. You cannot record on standard 8 mm cassettes
in the Hi8 system.
If you are going to play back the tape

the standard 8 mm video recorder/player,

you should use standard 8 mm cassettes.
When you use a Hi8 video cassette, you cannot record in LP mode. The

Hid

indicator

flashes in the viewfinder when you load a Hi8 video cassette with LP selected. If you

start recording with the

Hi0

indicator flashing. The

Hid

indicator disappears and you

can use the tape in standard 8 mm system. If you select SP, you can record the tape in
Hi8 format.

When you play back

The playback mode (SP/LP or Hi8/standard 8 mm) is selected automatically according
to the format in which the tape has been recorded. The quality of the recorded picture
in LP mode, however, will not be as good as that in SP mode.

Note on AFM HiFi stereo

When you play back a tape, the sound will be in monaural if:

• You record the tape using this camcorder, then play it back on an AFM HiFi monaural

video recorder/player.

• You record the tape on an AFM HiFi monaural video recorder, then play it back on

this camcorder.

Recording mode

When you play back a tape, the SP/LP indicator in the viewfinder shows the recording
mode SP/LP,

Foreign 8 mm video

Because the TV color systems differ from country to country, you may not be able to

play back foreign pre-recorded tapes. Refer fo the list of "Using Your Camcorder
Abroad" to check the TV color system of foreign countries.
