11.11 Display Module Configuration
The detached display module (DDM) used by both the
universal and panel models of the
720i
communicates
with the CPU board (host) using Port 3 (connector J4).
To verify active communications between the host and
the display, the
720i
provides a HEARTBEAT
parameter (FEATURE menu). This parameter, when
used with the HB1:I parameter in the display module,
provides notification of any communications failure
between the host and the display module.
If HEARTBEAT is specified, the display module input
heartbeat (HB1:I parameter) must also be set, typically
to a value slightly longer than the host HEARTBEAT
parameter. For example, set HEARTBEAT to 1.5
seconds, and HB1:I=2.0. With these values set, the host
should send a heartbeat packet to the display module
every 1.5 seconds; if the display module does not
receive an incoming heartbeat with 2.0 seconds, an
error message (
Host Communication Error
) is shown.
To view the DDM configuration display, press the
MENU
key to show the main
720i
menu, then press and
hold the
MENU
key until the following display is
shown:

to adjust the value.
DDM Communications Ports
Com1 is a RS-422 port that provides communications
with the
720i
CPU board host. Com0 is a limited
function RS-232 port used to write the DDM firmware.
11.12 Alibi Tracking
Alibi tracking allows a previously printed weigh ticket
to be reprinted. When enabled, every transaction is
stored as long as memory is available. There is 256 KB
of memory reserved for storing transactions. When
memory is full, it will erase the first 25% of the stored
transactions. The entire transaction is stored as it was
sent to the printer.
The alibi function is turned on in the FEATURE menu.
See Figure 3-13 on page 37 for parameter location and
Table 3-7 on page 38 for description. An alibi softkey
also needs to be enabled to provide operator access to
the alibi records. This softkey is enabled in the
FEATURE menu or through
Revolution III
in the base
configuration menu, under the softkey tab.
Note
Alibi tracking must be turned on when In OIML
mode in order to meet the legal-for-trade
requirement.
There is a unique alibi tracking number assigned for
each printed transaction. This number <AN> can be
printed on the ticket by adding it to the print string
format, see Table 6-1 and Table 6-2 on page 54. When
the
Alibi
softkey is pressed, the stored transactions will
be displayed. The display shows the alibi ID number,
date, and time. By displaying the desired ID number
and pressing print, the transaction will be reprinted. It
will print to the same port it was originally printed.
To access and print stored printed transactions, do the
following:
1. Press the
Alibi
softkey.
The first stored transaction is displayed.
2. Use the
Up/Down
navigation keys to display
the next stored transaction. Pressing the
Down
100
softkey will jump ahead in increments of
100.
3. When the desired transaction is displayed,
press the
key to reprint this transaction.
4. When done, press
Done
to return to weighing
mode.
