Troubleshooting and FAQ

The IQ3 is designed to provide trouble free performance. At times, problems could be
encountered that may affect data. We have attempted to provide answers for some of the

most common questions and problems.

No Data Obtained During Run

Data is written to the SD card when the start logging channel value is exceeded. The default
setting is GPS MPH greater than 25 MPH. If there is no GPS data or is a problem with the

channel used to start logging, no data is written to the card. Insure the GPS cable is connected
or has not been damaged due to side window or door closing on the cable. Insure the GPS
antenna is mounted on the roof or top of the vehicle. Insure the SD card is not removed, until

30 seconds following the stopping of the vehicle. Insure at least three satellites are acquired,
before starting the run. If a different channel has been selected to start logging, insure it is

functioning correctly.

The Word “CARD” Always Appears in the Center of the IQ3 Display.

This indicates that there is a problem with the microSD card. The most common causes are

that the card is missing or not inserted correctly, the card is full or the card is damaged.

DataLink will not communicate with the IQ3 when using the serial cable.

Verify the correct COM port of the user’s PC is selected. To perform this procedure:

A. Connect the serial cable between the IQ3 and your PC or USB to Serial Adaptor.

B. Turn on the power to the IQ3 and wait 5 seconds
C. From the menu bar, select Settings and Scan COM Ports.

D. If DataLink cannot find your IQ3 on any of the COM ports and you are using a

USB to Serial Adaptor, insure that you have properly installed the device driver

that was supplied with your USB to Serial Adaptor by the manufacturer.
