Replacement procedures
This chapter describes how to replace modules for the SR8800 router, and includes these sections:
H3C recommends that you place a removed module in an antistatic bag or its original shipping
materials.
Replacing a power supply system
Power modules for the SR8800 routers are hot swappable.
WARNING!
When hot-swapping a power module, make sure the other power module of the router works correctly.
When installing and replacing a power module with the router powered on, pay attention to the operation
procedures and electricity safety issues. To avoid injury, do not touch any wires, terminals, and parts with
a high-voltage hazard sign.
Preparing for the replacement
CAUTION:
Hold a power module by the bottom when moving it. Do not lift the module by the handle.
To prepare for the replacement:
1. Put on an ESD wrist strap, and make sure the wrist strap makes good skin contact and is well
grounded.
2. Make sure the power switch of the DC or AC power module is in the OFF position before removing
it.
3. Remove the cables connected to the DC or AC power module.
Replacing a DC power module
1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the captive screws on both sides of the power module, remove
the air filter frame of the power module, and pull out the handle of the power module.
2. Supporting the bottom of the power module with one hand and holding the power module handle
with the other hand, gently pull the DC power module out along the guide rails. Put the removed
power module on an antistatic mat or its original shipping materials.
3. Remove the air filter frame of the new power module, and pull out the handle.
4. Slowly push the new power module into the slot along the guide rails to fully seat it in the
backplane.
5. Use a Phillips screwdriver to fasten the captive screws on both sides of the power module panel,
and install the air filter frame of the power module.
