Applies power to all cells in a partition that are not already powered on

Boots the operating system if it is not already running

Powering Down Partitions

Press the power button on the EXPRESSSCOPE® Monitor to remove DC power from
the cell if it is on. Removing DC power from a cell causes the operating system to shut
down, as follows:

If you press the power button for less than 5 seconds, a soft shutdown occurs (the
operating system shuts down gracefully, if possible, and power is turned off).

If you press the power button for 5 seconds or more, the partition is powered down
(the operating system is shut down ungracefully and power is turned off).

6.4. Booting Partitions Automatically

Partitions boot when DC power is applied. You can set up partitions to boot
automatically if the following are true:

The partition power restore policy is set to either the second or third rule, as
identified in

3.5.9 Power Settings

. That is, for automatic boot, set one of the

following rules for the partition:

-

DC turned on when AC is applied to the cells in this partition

DC power is applied when AC power is applied to cells in the partition.

Restore DC to its state prior to AC loss

DC power is restored to its previous state before AC power was removed from
the cells in the partition.

The partition has at least one processor socket license.

The partition has at least one cell with sufficient components to boot.

Partition settings enable normal booting.

To set the power restore policy

1. Navigate to the settings page of the remote console interface for the partition.

2. Click the link to display the power restore policy settings, and select the desired

behavior from the following options:

• DC stays off when AC is applied to the cells in this partition (default)
