Maintaining Service Processors, Partitions,
and the BIOS

Over time, you might need to perform certain tasks to maintain the Service Processors,
partitions, and the BIOS, such as the following:

y

Set the time and date, add memory, or configure user credentials for partitions.

y

Update the firmware on the management server and Service Processors, the
software on the partitions, and the BIOS settings, as new releases become
available.

y

Register for e-mail notification of the availability of software updates.

y

Collect diagnostic data or take partition software dumps and management firmware
dumps.

12.1. Setting Partition Time and Date using remote console

interface

You might need to set the partition time and date to synchronize all cells in the partition
or to go on or off daylight saving time (DST) in your time zone. Use the following
procedure:

1. Navigate to the time and date page of the remote console interface for a partition

(refer to

Figure 3-16

) and select one of the following options:

y

Set the time manually

y

Use the time reported by the browser

2. If you selected Set the time manually

a. Select values for Current Date from each list.

The date is in YYYY-MONTH-DAY format, where YYYY is the 4-digit year,
MONTH is the name of the month, and DAY is the 2-digit day of the month
from 1 through 31. An example is 2008-August-25.

b. Type values for Current Time.

The time is in HH:MM:SS 24-hour format, where HH is the number of hours
from 00 through 23, MM is the number of minutes from 00 through 59, and SS
is the number of seconds from 00 through 59. For example, 1:25 PM is
13:25:00. Noon is designated by 12:00:00. Midnight is designated by 00:00:00
