Creating solutions (CNT D)

6.3.1

General description

Usage
The dosing mode CNT D (Content dosing) is suitable for the preparation
of standard and other solutions. The 865 Dosimat plus automatically
determines the volume of the solvent to be dosed on the basis of the
sample size of the starting substance (solid substance or stock solution)
and the specified target concentration. A report containing all of the rele-
vant data concerning the solution that was prepared can be printed out
after the dosing. The parameters as a whole can be saved as a method
and then later used where required.

Solutions and buret units
Buret units with or without an integrated data chip can be used for dos-
ing. The solution data, such as the concentration and the titer of the solu-
tion, are managed by the 865 Dosimat plus and are documented at the
time of the output of the report. This requires that the name of the solu-
tion be specified under Menu

Parameters.

Entering sample data
The sample data sample size and unit can be entered before and during a
determination under Menu

Sample data. The sample data is reques-

ted once more after the start of the dosing.

Note

The sample size can be entered in µg, mg, g or kg. The sample size is
converted to g prior to the actual calculation of the volume to be
dosed. If necessary, the density of the solvent will also be taken into
account for this purpose.

If a balance is connected, then the sample size and unit can be accepted
directly from the balance before or during the determination. This is usu-
ally accomplished by pressing the [Print] key on the balance. Note that
the configuration of the data transfer of the balance and the settings in
the 865 Dosimat plus must match in order for this to take place, see (see
page 35)
. Details concerning configuration and sending of the sample size
can be obtained from the operating instructions for your balance.

Calculation formula
The formula which is applied for the calculation of the volume reads:
