Using IR

The NetStreams Panorama system provides a straightforward method to learn and
store IR codes for the displays and sources in your environment. All you need is the
PAN6400 VDC, the Panorama remote, and remotes for each source and display.

Depending on your installation, the Panorama IR abilities allow you to control
sources and displays with the original source and display remotes, the Panorama
remote, the Musica keypad and remote, and DigiLinX-compatible devices including
TouchLinX and web browsers.

If you want to control the sources and displays with IR, your installation must use
appropriate IR Receivers and Emitters.

To control a source, use a VP700 Panorama Video Port and an attached IR receiver or
use the built-in IR receiver in each Musica keypad (when integrated with Musica). The
source must be connected to the PAN6400 VDC with an IR Emitter.

To control a display while in the room with the display, you can use the display remote
control that ships with that display or a universal remote control that has been
programmed to control that display. You can also attach an IR Emitter to the display
and connect it to either a VP500 or VP700 and use a Panorama remote to execute
display commands stored in the PAN6400 VDC. This is useful when the display is
enclosed and there is no line of sight for IR control. Is important to note that if you
want to control the display from the Panorama, the appropriate IR command must be
stored in the Panorama and assigned to a button, then that button will toggle the power
for the TV or other function. The Panorama remote can be used to teach another
remote if desired.

IR Overview

Before learning IR, you should understand the remote control’s role in IR learning,
how the PAN6400 VDC stores and accesses IR codes, and the information the
PAN6400 VDC provides to assist in learning IR.
