Figure 6-2 identifies the 10 definable buttons on the Panorama remote with icons
representing standard remote functions. However, you can attach any function from
the source or display remote to any of the 10 buttons.

When you push a button on the remote, the PAN6400 VDC executes the IR commands
stored in two memory locations, one for the active source and one for the active
display. Memory locations are discussed further in

Source/Display Remote or Universal Remote

Source remotes use IR pass-through and there must be an IR Receiver in the room with
the displays. The VP700 and Musica keypad both have IR Receivers.

Display remotes communicate directly or use the IR pass-through function. When the
remote is in the room with the display, it communicates directly with the display. At
the headend, the remote uses IR pass-through to send IR through the PAN6400 VDC
built-in IR receiver.

If you learn source and display IR codes directly into a universal remote, it can control
devices directly or through IR pass-through. If you learn source and display IR codes
from the Panorama remote, the universal remote uses IR learning and accesses the IR
commands stored in the PAN6400 VDC. The universal remote can also use a mix of
the two.

You can download Panorama IR HEX codes for universal remotes from the dealer
section of the NetStreams website (

www.netstreams.com

). These codes have been

tested with Pronto remotes and may not work with other brands. The codes include
discrete IR codes that execute a certain command, such as source 1 play. You can use
these discrete codes to build macros on the universal remote. The NetStreams
Panorama PAN6400 Multi-Room Video System RS-232 Integration Guide
(available
on the dealer section of the NetStreams website (

www.netstreams.com

)) provides a list

of IR codes.
