3.7 SYSLOG Client Configuration
Use the SYSLOG Client Configuration screen to configure the 9145ELB to send log messages to
a SYSLOG Server. From the System Configuration menu, select SYSLOG Client Configuration
(8) and press Enter. The SYSLOG Client Configuration screen (Figure 3-24) opens.
On the SYSLOG Client Configuration screen, type the number of the SYSLOG setting to change
and press Enter. Press Esc to return to the System Configuration menu.
Syslog Server IP Address Configure the IP address of the Syslog server. Two Syslog servers
can be configured.
Syslog Server Port Configure the Syslog Server port. The standard syslog port is 514. The port
setting should match with the Syslog server UDP port setting (1 - 65535).
Syslog Server Mask Define the level of severity of the messages to be sent. There are eight (8)
levels of severity as defined in RFC 3164. The 9145ELB will send all messages with severity
level equal to or greater than this setting. The severity levels from highest to lowest are:

Emergency System is unusable.
•
Alert Action must be taken immediately.
•
Critical Critical Condition.
•
Error Error Condition.
•
Warning Warning Condition.
•
Notice Normal but significant condition.
•
Informational Informational messages
•
Debug Debug level messages. If you specify Debug, then all messages about the
9145ELB are sent. If you specify Error, all errors that are Emergency, Alert, and Critical
are sent.
