SECTiON III BASIC SEWING

Straight Stitch Sewing

® Starting to sew

Raise the presser foot and position the fabric next to a

seam guide line on the needle píate (see page 48).

Lower the needle to the point where you want to start.

Lower the presser foot and pull the threads toward the

back. Depress the foot control. Gently guide the fabric

along a seam line letting the fabric feed naturally.

Note:

When using the straight stitch foot, make sure to use

center needle position. Otherwise the needle may

strike the sewing foot and possibly break.

Changing Sewing Direction

stop the machine and bring the needle down into the

fabric by pressing the Up/Down needle position button.

Raise the presser foot.

Pivot the fabric around the needle to change sewing

direction as desired. Lower the presser foot.

Finishing sewing

To fasten the ends of seams, press the reverse button

and sew several reverse stitches.

Raise the presser foot. Remove the fabric, draw the

threads to the back and cut the proper length for starting

the next seam.

-When pattern is selected, reverse stitches are

sewn automatically at the beginning of the seam, then

continue sewing forward.

-When you reach the end edge of the fabric, press

the reverse button once.

The machine wiil sew four reverse stitches, four forward

stitches then stop sewing.
