REMOTE SYSTEM OPERATION

The Microtel MCS 500 contains numerous capabilities when operated in remote mode.
These functions are only accessible after successful entry of the access code.
Successful entry of the access code during call-in or call-out sequence is identified by
the system responding “Access Code Accepted-System Ready”. It will be helpful to
refer to the MCS 500 Remote Operations Menu diagram located in the appendix to
properly understand the functions described within the section.

The remote programming procedure diagram shows the blocks preceding the point
referred to as

Remote Operation Basepoint. This is the point the system is at when it

articulates the phrase “System Ready”. If no entry of tone data occurs for a two minute
period during any remote phase of operation, the system will disconnect the call and
return to whatever mode it was last instructed to enter. If no change of mode occurred
during remote system operation, the dialer will disconnect and go to the mode it was in
prior to the call connection taking place.

During the remote control procedure, the user has access to many phases of the
system operation. These include System Level Functions, Digital Input, Analog and
Output Channel Functions, Speakerphone Functions, Voice Mail Messages Functions,
and call Terminate Functions. These remote operation procedures are described
below.

The asterisk key (*) is used to abort and terminate entries or procedures, and return the
remote operation procedure to a previous level.
