MCS 500 Electrical Installation

This drawing describes the recommended method of connecting monitored equipment
to the MCS 500 Series Automatic Dialer. I/0 Option boards should be installed in the I/0
bus from left to right, starting with card slot position #1. Conductors from monitored
equipment should enter the MCS 500 Enclosure through one of the conduit ports on the
lower side of the cabinet. The ports are 7/8 inch to be used with standard conduit
fittings.

The MCS 500 Dialers allow any combination of Digital Input, Analog Input, and Relay
Output boards to be installed in the fine 1/0 Card slots located in the lower half of the
unit. Each Digital Input card will monitor 8 Normally Opened or Normally Closed contact
pairs. Signal ground for each of the eight channels are connected to common terminals
9 and 10 on each Digital Input card.

The first Digital Input card in the I/0 Bus will be assigned the channel designations Input
01 through Input 08. The second Digital Input card found in the system will be assigned
the channel designations Input 09 through Input 16.

The first Analog Input card in the I/0 Bus will be assigned the channel designations
Analog 01 through 04. The second Analog Input card in the system will carry the
designation Analog 05 through Analog O8.

The first Relay Output, or Digital Output, board in the system will be designated Output
01 through Output 04.

The following connector diagrams summarize the terminal positrons on each of the 1/0
card styles:
