Power-Up Procedure

Use the following procedure to power up the Mbox Extreme server.

Step

1. Ensure UPS is powered up.

Step

2. At front of rack, press Mac computer power button (Figure 2-6) and allow computer to boot.

Step

3. Press power button of any connected preview monitors.

Step

4. Allow Mbox DEISGNER software to launch. (The software should start automatically. If it does not start

automatically, click on the icon in the dock. Alternately, locate the application in the Mbox folder and
double-click on it.)

Step

5. Mbox is now ready for operation.

Mbox Daemon

When the Mbox Designer application is launched, the Mbox Daemon application will also be launched.
This software application is required on all Mbox servers to enable remote feedback. Mbox Daemon may
not be visible, however, since it is a background process. (To force Daemon’s interface to be shown,
press [

 D] while the Mbox Designer application is in Window mode, or locate the Daemon icon in the

dock and click on it.)

When viewed, the Mbox Daemon window will always reflect the Network Interface setting set by the Mbox application
(configured on the Setup tab). The Network Interface setting can be changed at the Mbox Daemon window, but this is
not recommended since the setting WILL NOT be retained if Mbox Designer is restarted. A sample Mbox Daemon
window is shown below:
