Installing FRUs
You can install an interface module, a lightning protector for a network port, and a power strip with
lightning protection on an F1000-E/F1000-S-EI firewall. You can also connect an RPS to the F1000-E
firewall. These components do not come with the firewall. Please order them from H3C.
Installing an interface module
When you install a 4GBE, 8GBE, 4GBP, or 1EXP interface module, remove the upper and lower filler
panels from the slot for the interface module. When you install an NSQ1GT2UA0 or NSQ1GP4U0
interface module, remove only the lower filler panel from the slot for the interface module.
The methods for installing the above interface modules are similar. The following example installs an
8GBE interface module to the firewall.
To install an interface module:
1. Face the rear panel of the firewall.
2. Locate the slot to install the interface module.
3. Push the interface module along the guide rails into the slot and push the two ejector levers at
both ends of the interface module inward.

4. Fasten the captive screws on the interface module with a Phillips screwdriver.
