The configuration of inputs and outputs is controlled via a mixfile.

For further information refer to Audio Mix Files on page 215.

A CUT transition is an instant switch to the selected source. By default this is
achieved between frames in the vertical interval so the active picture is
allowed to finish before the new data is transmitted, but other cut options are
also possible (see page 68).

A FADE transition is the gradual process of switching to the selected source
with rates adjustable between 1 and 999 fields (16.65 seconds at 30 frames /
second, 60Hz interlaced). By default fades begin between frames in the
vertical interval, but this can be adjusted (see page 68).

Symbols will appear on the top line of the front panel display indicating the
status of the audio.
