CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

Select the switch to upgrade.
Ensure you have system administration privileges available on the
switch.
Z
Open a EnerVista Secure Web Management software session with
the switch by typing in the following URL:
https://<IPaddress of the switch>
Z
If using FTP, save the configuration before proceeding.
GE Multilin recommends a two-step update:
• save the configuration to the ftp server
• load the new image and restart the switch (refer to Saving
Configuration on page 5–19 for details on saving the
configuration).

Load the new software as shown below.
As the file is being loaded, the software will display the transfer in progress window.
Z
Reboot the switch when the transfer is complete.
After reboot, the software is ready for use.

If using TFTP, save the configuration before proceeding.

• Save the configuration to the TFTP server.
• Load the new image and restart the switch (refer to Saving
Configuration on page 5–19 for details on saving the
configuration).
