"Connectable equipment" in this manual).

Local safety regulations

local trade associations!

1.2

Inherent dangers of wire saws

Dangers caused by electrical power units and

rotating pulleys are adequately described in

the respective wire sawing equipment

operating manuals. Other dangers must be

strictly avoided, protecting the operating

personnel and other persons not involved in

sawing work.

Wire breaks

Wire breaks can be prevented by selecting

large wrap angles. However, it is not possible

to exclude the possibility of wire breaks

completely. It is therefore essential to ensure

that all guards and safety features are fitted at

all times.

Spun-off diamond beads

A torn wire can spin off a loose diamond bead

if it strikes any object.

The wire normally runs at a speed of 15 to 25

m/s, so that a loose diamond bead can be

spun off at a speed of up to 100 m/s. Suitable

safety features must be installed to intercept

any such spun-off diamond beads.

Precautions

l

Only use high-quality diamond wires and
beads.

l

Ensure that the operating personnel is
familiar with the safe connection of the
wires.

l

Ensure that the operating personnel is
aware of the fact that high wire tension can
cause wire breaks.

Safety measures

l

Always use the guards recommended by
the manufacturer.

l

Ensure that all zones into which a spun-off
diamond bead could travel are protected.

l

Always install all guards around the
hazardous area.
