RAID Manager (RAID Manager)

You can run RAID Manager commands to perform FS tasks (see

“Pair tasks using the

RAID Manager or Remote Web Console” (page 148)

and the HP XP7 RAID Manager

Reference Guide).

Components of Fast Snap pairs

An FS pair consists of a P-VOL, one or more S-VOLs, and one or more pool-VOLs. The P-VOL is an
individual logical data volume, or logical device (LDEV). The S-VOL is a V-VOL. LDEVs include
V-VOLs of provisioning type THP. You can only use V-VOLs that are used by an FS pair as an
S-VOL. P-VOL differential data is stored as snapshot data in pool-VOLs (LDEVs).

NOTE:

To use FS, THP, and the other XP7 storage system software applications, you must acquire

licenses with HP (see

“Thin Provisioning” (page 10)

.)

Consistency and snapshot groups

A consistency group is a group of pairs on which you simultaneously perform pair tasks on the
pairs within the group. You can define FS, Cnt Ac-S, Cnt Ac-J, and BC pairs in consistency groups.

A snapshot group is a group of FS pairs on which you also can perform pair tasks. Use consistency
or snapshot groups to perform FS tasks on all of the pairs within the group. You define FS pairs to
a snapshot group when you create the pairs.

The following table shows the differences between consistency groups and snapshot groups.
