Using the AF Assist Light
Use this procedure to enable or disable the assist light used by the camera
to help it focus when shooting still images in dark surroundings.
1. From the recording menu (
p.34), select [AF ASSIST LIGHT].
Use the jog dial to select [AF ASSIST LIGHT] and then press the OK
( ) button.
2. Select [ON].
Use the jog dial to select [ON] and then press the OK ( ) button.
ON: In dark surroundings, the AF assist light turns on when you
press the REC button down halfway.
OFF: The AF assist light does not turn on.

Setting the camera to auto mode selects [ON] as the AF assist light
setting.
In some situations, the camera may still be unable to focus even when
the AF assist light is on.
