Installation Notes

See Figure 6-17: “Lower Housing Assembly” on page 6-37.

To install, follow the preceding steps in the reverse order, paying
attention to the following:

Review preceding section “Before You Begin...,” beginning on
page 6-1.

Pay attention to section “Cleaning and Inspection Guidelines,”
beginning on page 6-6 to ensure a thorough installation.

Inspect the Cooling Tube for damage and leaks.

Apply Loctite 680 to the screw that attaches the gearshift fork
onto the gearshift shaft. Tighten to 25 ft.-lb. (34 N-m).

Reaching through the top of the gearbox housing, place the
sliding gear into the shift fork. Make sure the shift fork groove
on the sliding gear is oriented towards the front of the gearbox.

MAINTENANCE KITS

Disassembly of the pump and/or gearbox is a major undertaking that
can remove a pump from service for a considerable period of time.
Gaskets and O-rings must be replaced to ensure the pump is fully
operational when returned to service.

Hale Products supplies repair kits designed specifically for each pump
and gearbox. Other parts can be ordered by calling Hale Products
Customer Service at 1-800-825-6300.

The minimum recommended spare parts for:

Three years -

A one level 1 basic repair kit, which contains seal rings, oil
seals, gaskets, the mechanical seal, and retaining rings for basic
reassembly of the pump.

Five years -

A Level 2 kit provides bearings and any other wear item.

Complete Overhaul -

A Level 3 kits includes the entire contents of the Level 1 and 2
kits, plus a pump shaft, keys, shift fork, impellers and gears.
