: INSTALLATION
OVERVIEW
This section provides guidelines and recommendations for installing a
Stainless Max Pump Assembly into your truck chassis.
FRAME MOUNTING
Also see “Installation and Parts Drawings,” located at the back of this
manual for more detail.
❑ Plate # 994AB – Sheet 1: Pedestal, with HG Gearbox
Sheet 2: Pedestal only
❑ Plate # 1043AB – SMD -A Series Pump, with HG Gearbox
❑ Plate # 1041AB – SMD-X Series Pump, with X Gearbox
IMPORTANT !
TO FULLY SUPPORT THE STAINLESS MAX PUMP ASSEMBLY, USE ALL
MOUNTING BOLT HOLES PROVIDED IN THE GEARBOX AND/OR
PEDESTAL MOUNT.
Mounting Holes
Mounting varies depending on assembly configuration, i.e., pedestal
mount with or without gearbox, or the type of gearbox used. Mount-
ing holes are as follows:
❑ Pedestal mount – four mounting pads with 0.669” (17 mm)
clearance holes
❑ HG Gearbox – eight 1/2-13 tapped holes, 0.75”
(10.05 mm) deep, located on the front
face of the unit
❑ X Series Gearbox – four (two each side) 5/8-11 tapped holes,
1.25” (31.8 mm) deep
DRIVELINE ISSUES
Due to the increasing sophistication of fire apparatus and truck design,
there has been an increase in the number of reported driveline
problems.
