Select device The following dialog appears if the setting "Use the Assistant for device
settings" is active.
You will now be led automatically from dialog to dialog, and can make all the
entries that are required for reading out data.

The function described here is based on an active “Assistant for
setting devices” (default setting for a new software installation).
The Assistant can be switched off through the function Device list
➔ Edit or by using the Setup or PCS software within the device
list.
If the option is active ( ),
a check is made at the end,
whether the chosen device can
be accessed via the selected
interface.
Select device type and version.
Select device group / machine line to which the device
shall be assigned to. (This drop-down-menu is only
visible if there are at least two device lists.)
The identifier is created by the
computer. It is unique, and is,
forexample, entered in the PC audit
trail.
It can be used in the PCAT software,
if a filter is defined.
A descriptive text for the device can be
entered here. The text will appear in the
navigation tree.
