Sample DCS 5000/AutoMax
RTD Application Task
The sample DCS 5000/AutoMax RTD application task in figure 4.12 is
written for an RTD module in slot 4 which is connected to a 4Ćwire
RTD. In this example, three vats of solution are being monitored for
the following temperatures:
D High High Alarm = 250
o
C
D High Alarm = 200
o
C
D Low Alarm = 100
o
C
D Low Low Alarm = 50
o
C.
If you are using AutoMax version 2.1 or earlier, you would need to
define common (systemĆwide) variables in a configuration task
before writing an application task. The configuration task in Appendix
F defines the common variables in the sample task below.
If you are using DCS 5000/AutoMax version 3.0 or later, this
information would be entered in the configuration form using the
Programming Executive software.
Note that when RTD modules are placed in an AutoMax remote rack,
the powerĆup default values in registers 23 to 31 are reset to zero.
You must individually enter new values into these registers.
