Installing the Tongue
Refer to Figure 1-4:
If your drill was shipped as part of a multiple drill load, the
first step is to install the tongue to the mainframe. Block
the mainframe assembly (#1) up in the raised position with
the transport cylinders extended and the cylinder lock
channels (#2) over the cylinder rods. With the aid of a fork-
lift, hoist, or loader, position the tongue assembly (#3)
back under the mainframe assembly (#1) and bolt it into
place with the twelve 1" x 2 3/4" bolts (#4), 1" flat washers
(#5), 1" lockwashers (#6) and 1" nuts (#7). Lightly tighten
all 1" bolts before torquing any of them. Once the tongue
is assembled, remove the cylinder lock channels (#2),
completely lower the mainframe assembly and secure it in
this position.
Route the two long 3/8" hydraulic hoses (#8) from the back
of the tongue tube along the right side of the main frame
and connect them to the 9/16" bulkhead tees (#9) on the
front of the main frame.
Route the two long 1/4" hoses (#10) coming out of the
back of the tongue to the 9/16" tees (#11) on the rod and
base ends of the right fold cylinder. The fold circuit hoses
(#10) run the full length of the tongue. Secure the hoses
(#8) & (#10) with a hose clamp bracket (#12) and 5/16" x
2 1/4" bolts (#13) and 5/16" lockwashers (#14). Use the
rubber hydraulic hose guards (#15) on the
1/4" hydraulic hoses.
Route the long 1/4" hose (#16) coming from the base end
of box lift cylinder at the center of the tongue to the 9/16"
base end tee (#17) at the right transport lift cylinder on the
transport axle. Route the long 1/4" hose (#18) coming
from the rod end of box lift cylinder at the center of the
tongue to the 9/16" rod end tee (#19) at the right transport
lift cylinder on the transport axle.
