4 - Customization
There are a number of changes you can make to customize Workboat Navigator for
specific customers. This chapter provides an overview of a few of those changes.
Some of these changes require an XML file editor, such as XML Notepad 2007. If
you are not proficient editing XML files, we recommend that you call your Jeppesen
Marine Deployment specialist to help you through this process.
NOTE:
XML files must always be edited with an XML editor (such as XML
Notepad 2007 or XMLSpy). Do not use a standard text editor.
There are also more complex configuration adjustments possible which are not
covered in this guide. To discuss available configuration adjustments, please call
your Jeppesen Marine Deployment Specialist. See the Summary of Special
Customization at the end of this chapter for more information.
Customize the Barge List
You can customize the Barge List to work best for your Tow configurations. Actual
Tow configuration is managed using the Boat Properties function in Workboat
Navigator.
To Customize the Barge List
Close all programs
Open the TowDef.ini file using Notepad, Wordpad or another text editor. (C:\
Program Files\Jeppesen Marine\WorkboatNavigator\Config\Vessel\TowDef.ini)
When you edit the TowDef.ini be sure that:
The count under the [Barge Definitions] match the total number of barge
definitions in the ini file.
You edit only the name, width, length, color, and rake fields.
If you change the color fields, reference the table on the next page.
You are aware that if you change a barge name and its content it may affect
another barge that referenced it.
NOTE:
The dimensions in parentheses after the boat name are for reference
only. They do not affect the actual dimensions of the barge and tow. Do not
edit below the Tow Definition section. Use System Menu | Boat Properties
and delete or edit the tow there.
Save your changes by selecting File | Save or
FS
.
Close the TowDef.ini file.
