XML File and Registry Settings

Some XML file settings can be edited to turn specific features of Workboat
Navigator on and off. These features include setting a secondary depth sounder
and boat data export function.

NOTE:

XML files must always be edited with an XML editor (such as XML

Notepad 2007 or XMLSpy). Do not use a standard text editor.

REMEMBER:

Always perform a complete backup before making any custom

changes. See Chapter 3 - System Backup and Recovery.

NOTE:

In order to edit the settings in the XML files, you must have run the

current installation of Workboat Navigator at least once. This is because
Settings.xml is created after Workboat Navigator is launched the first time.

Settings.xml is typically located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Jeppesen Marine\Workboat Navigator. Although this is the default location for
this file, settings and choices made during system installation may affect the default.

To Set a Secondary Depth Sounder

This setting is required for Jeppesen Workboat Navigator to receive and display
data from a secondary Depth Sounder (typically the Starboard Sounder). You must
still configure your ports correctly using the Settings | Options | Ports: Configure
tab, but in order for Workboat Navigator to accept data from that secondary depth
sounder, you must also edit the Settings.xml file to tell Workboat Navigator to look
for input from a second depth sounder and to complete COM port configuration.

Close Workboat Navigator.
Open the settings.xml file using an XML file editor, such as XML Notepad 2007.
Locate the DualDepthSounders setting using the Edit | Find function.
Change the value from 0 to 1. This tells Workboat Navigator that you are using
two depth sounders.

NOTE:

The value 0 = one Depth Sounder; 1 = two Depth Sounders.

Locate the DualDepthStarboardCOM setting using the Edit | Find function.
Change the Value data from 0 to the COM port number that a secondary,
starboard depth sounder is attached to. This value can be anywhere from 1-32.

NOTE:

The value 0 = no secondary Depth Sounder. A value of 1-32 is the

COM port number attached to the secondary depth sounder.

Select File | Save; then close the file editor.
