MICROPHONE AHENUATOR SWITCH

This switch is used to change the microphone in

put level.

In most cases h should be set to

OdB, a position in which it locks.

It should be

set to - 20dB in the following situations:

1, When recording outdoors or in noisy areas.

2. When recording a sound, such as that of a jet

engine which is so loud that it is impossible to

reduce the input level by adjusting the volume

control dial alone.

To set the switch at this position, push it down
while

pressing

the

microphone

attenuator

lock

button. To return it to the 0 dB position, simply
push it back up. This switch is usable at any
recording

mode

dial

or

tone

control

switch

position but is most effective when used in con
nection with the volume control dial with recor

ding mode dial at the MANUAL position. It has
no effect on recording done from an auxiliary in

put.
