Inspect external surfaces and
latch for cracks or damage.
Scratches and gouges are OK if

Inspect battery compartment.
Check to make sure the battery
cap and battery cap retainer is
present. Remove battery cap and
inspect for moisture, cracks,
corroded or defective spring
contacts, and o-ring present in
cap.
