Mounting L-Cell

CAUTION

Do not install L-Cells in the rain.
Do not trap moisture under the environmental cover.

1.

See Figure 5-24. Wipe down a 4.5” (114mm) diameter surface for the
outside L-Cell, centered on the template mounting hole, with
degreaser. This cleans the bare metal surface and adjacent area.

2.

Apply a thin coat of KM rust inhibitor to the exposed 2.50” (63.5mm)
diameter bare metal surface. Fig. 5-25.

CAUTION

Do not apply rust inhibitor beyond this area, or the environmental
cover will not adhere properly.

3.

Connect the L-Cell’s red, black, and white wires to the corresponding
K-M Test Meter terminals. Turn on power to the Meter
and set its Simulate/Test switch to theTest position. Fig. 5-26

Note

If a KM Test Meter is not available, refer to Appendix G, Alternate
Method for Checking Output, before proceeding.

4.

Apply a small amount of sealant to the threads of the three #6-32 x

” socket head cap screws.

CAUTION

Only use Sikaflex 1A polyurethane sealant or Dow Corning
RTV 739 or RTV 738
. Other sealants may contain acetic acid,
which is harmful to sensors and electronics.
