Getting Information About a Word

To search for a word, type the word in the entry field WORD and press RETURN.
The word processor starts searching for the specified word. What happens next

depends on whether the word is found in the dictionary.

When the New Word is Found

When the word specified on the DESK TOP REFERENCE screen is found in the
dictionary, the INFORMATION screen appears. This screen shows the correct

hyphenation posltion(s) for the word and, when available, a list of definitions.

In addition, the same part of speech, “Verb”, for instance, can appears more than

once in the

MEANING(S)

area. This happens when a word has different meanings

even when used as the same part of speech. For example, enclose, as a verb, can
mean ‘To shut in on all sides” or To surround and advance on”.

You can select a meaning to see corresponding synonyms by using the cursor and

pressing RETURN. You can use the function menu for other options. See “Using the
Function Menu” on page 238.
