Set machine as for sewing without Automatic Mechanism. Zigzag Stitch Dial; Move to extremely

left.

Upper

Tension:

Normal.

Feed

Dog: To be dropped.

Pressei Foot:

Remove zigzag

stitch

hinged foot. Sewing Thread; Use thread suitable for article to be darned.

Place Portion of fabric to be darned, under needle bar and .start sewing, moving the fabric from

left to right, until the holes of fabric is fulled with parallel lines stitches. Next starting again at the

left upper edge of the hole, move the fabric gradually forward and backward until the first lines of

stitches are fully covered crosswise with the other lines of stitches. The hole is then fully darned.

SEWING ON BUTTONS

Set the zigzag stitch dial between 4 and 5 or in accordance with the

distance

between

holes

of

button.

The

upper

tension

should

be

normal, and the feed dog must be in Down position. Remove zigzag

hinged foot and attach button sewing foot to presser bar. Leave

button sewing foot in raised position. While lowering presser foot

and fabric so that holes of button are in line with zigzag stitch.

By hand turn balance wheel slowly toward you so that needle goes

through left hole of button. Continue turning balance wheel by hand,

making sure that needle enters the center of button hole properly

and does not hit button. If needle does not clear button, change

throw of needle by readjusting zigzag stitch dial.
