Remote Telephones - When connecting remote telephones to your
X -25, it must be the “Edge Device”, which
is defi ned as a demarcation device between the external Internet Service Provider’s (ISP) IP Address and your
internal LAN IP Address. This also requires a static “Class A or B” IP Address.
There are two ways of installing the
X -25 as the edge device, one is to only use the WAN port and the other is
to use both the WAN and the LAN ports.
To make everything simple, connect only the WAN port of your
X -25 to your existing network, by placing a
network switch after the ISP Modem but before your existing router. Then enter the static (fi xed) IP Address
provided by your ISP into the WAN parameters. You can also use a paid service such as Dynamic DNS and a
dynamic IP Address.
If you do not have an existing network, you can use the
X -25 as your wired and wireless router as well as your
telephone system. In this case you will use both the WAN and the LAN ports.
