Viewing the FEP-4600 Status

The Status panel can be viewed as the combination of three frames. The top frame
contains the Visara logo and a number of menu items. The second frame, if present,
displays the members of the cluster to which this FEP-4600 belongs. The cluster member
to which you are directly communicating will display the name between two asterisks (*).

In the bottom frame, the diagram on the left portion of the screen represents the hardware
configuration of the FEP-4600 that you are attached to. The diagram indicates from left
to right, that this FEP-4600 has one SDLC card with four interfaces, one Token Ring card
with 1 line (two media connections), and one ESCON interface. Additionally there are
two Ethernet interfaces (these are included on the motherboard of all FEP-4600
platforms).

The status of each interface is color coded giving an immediate indicator of whether the
interface is working.

• Green - indicates that the card is working as configured, and is in communication

with whatever it is supposed to be.

• Yellow - indicates that one or more platforms that the FEP-4600 is supposed to

communicate with over that interface are not communicating, however at least
one platform is communicating (a probable indication that the interface itself is
working).

• Red - indicates that nothing is communicating over that interface.
• Gray – indicates that the interface has not been configured.

• Blue - displayed in the diagram indicates which adapter(s) are displayed on the

right side of the screen. In this case it is the SDLC interface that is displayed.

It should be noted that interfaces that are configured but are not actually being used, may
be set to be initially “Inactive” so that they are ignored by the FEP-4600 when
determining which color to display. This setting is part of the configuration.

To display the detailed status for any specific interface, just click the interface that you
need to display. The resulting detailed status will display. For example, clicking any of
the SDLC interface buttons might display the following detailed status information:
