slots with the rear card opening on the chassis.

7. Raise the lever on CPU 1 socket.
8. Remove the processor from its antistatic container.
9. Inspect the top of the processor and the bottom of the heat sink for

the proper amount of thermal compound on the two components.
If necessary add more thermal compound sparingly. Use only
enough to ensure a good thermal connection between the two
components.

10. Inspect the pins on the processor for bent or malformed pins.

Straighten carefully if necessary.

11. Reinstall the processor making sure the pin 1 markings are

properly aligned.

12. Close and latch the socket lever.
13. Reinstall the heat sink using the mark you placed on the heat sink

when the processor and the heat sink were separated.

14. Seat the four screws loosely at first, then tighten them down

securely in an X fashion.

15. Refer to the cable/header designator table on the preceding page

and reconnect the cables.

16. Remove the ram sticks from their antistatic container.
17. Install the rams sticks into the sockets provided aligning the socket

and ram keys properly.

18. Install the CPU air shroud carefully, insuring a proper fit.
19. Install the front cooling fans (4).
20. Install the rear cooling fans (2).
21. Check cable placement and routing ensuring there is no

interference with the cooling fans.

Ensure that the following items are properly configured:

1. CPU cooling shrouds are properly installed.
2. Front foam packing is properly installed to ensure proper air flow

through the chassis

3. Power, data, and control cables are routed properly to ensure the

chassis cooling fans are not shrouded preventing proper airflow.

4. All chassis covers are properly installed.

followed.
